The Ombudsman for Justice has opened an investigation against the Correctional Service after a report of shortcomings at the Salberga institution in Sala, reports P4 Västmanland.
The reason is that a man had learned that another inmate had access to his mail, which was classified. The mail contained information about the man’s medical problems and personal data.
The information came to the man via the staff.
The man himself writes in a report that the information is sure to be spread in Salberga and that he therefore feels scared, worried and threatened.

A 65-year-old man has died after a single-vehicle accident in Nossebro.
According to the police, the car has driven off the road.
– The car has been impounded for a technical examination, to investigate what happened, says Mile Hristovski, officer on duty at the police in the West region.
The man’s next of kin have been notified.

A gate to an apartment building has been damaged after an explosion in central Västerås.
Several police patrols are there and have cordoned off an area.
– There have been a lot of calls. It is unclear what it is that has exploded, says police spokesperson Magnus Jansson Klarin.
It is not known if anyone has been injured.

There is a fire in the forest outside Vaggeryd. There are two fires in the same area – a total of 1,500 square meters are burning.
The emergency services are on site and have started the extinguishing work.
– There are open flames. We will remain for surveillance throughout the night, says the management operator of the rescue service.

At least 45 people have been arrested in Moscow, TT reports.
They are demonstrators showing their support for the imprisoned Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who turns 47 today.

A kangaroo is on the loose in Norwegian Gjerstad in Agder, writes TV2. The animal has escaped from the local zoo and was discovered after a group of friends saw it on the country road – on their way home from a party.
The gang tells TV2 that at first they didn’t understand what kind of animal it was in the middle of the road before it started jumping.
The kangaroo is still on the run, and the zoo is working to try and capture it. They mean it is not dangerous.
A moped with two people on it drove into a fence in Uddevalla during the afternoon.
Both people have been taken to hospital by ambulance,

– There are minor injuries to a person aged 15, she says.
The police do not suspect any crime in connection with the accident.

The former Ericsson CEO Lars Ramqvist has died, writes Dagens Industri.
He has been described as one of the giants of business during the 1990s.

Thomas “Orup” Eriksson is awarded the Povel Ramels Karamalodikt scholarship in 2023, reports TT.
This for its “inventive songs and swinging sound”.
The award is given to “an innovator of the Swedish language or for outstanding deeds in music”.
The scholarship consists of a diploma, a caramel cone and a sum of money large enough to make the winner “financially independent for the rest of the day”.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have discussed Sweden’s NATO membership.
“We have agreed that the parties will meet again during the week that begins on June 12,” says Stoltenberg after the meeting.
He further says that “Sweden has fulfilled its obligations” and refers, among other things, to the terrorism law that has just come into force.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, over 500 Ukrainian children have been killed in the war.

At least ten pro-democracy activists have been arrested in Hong Kong after taking to the streets to demonstrate on the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre in 1989, TT and other media reports.
Among those arrested are Chan Po-ying, leader of the opposition party LSD (“Collected Social Democrats”), and 67-year-old democracy activist Alexandra Wong, known as “Grandma Wong”.

Now we have decided to remove the bridge and chess column as well as Dustin. We understand that the people who actually read them find it boring, but as an editor you have to make tough priorities all the time.
