Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro has arrived at police headquarters in the capital Brasilia after three months in the United States.

He is being investigated for receiving jewels worth several millions from Saudi Arabia and then trying to hide them.

The president, who stayed away after the election loss last year, has not answered what he intended to do with the diamonds. (TT)

  • Suspected murder in Hagfors – three arrested

    A preliminary investigation regarding murder has been started after a person was found dead just in a community north of Hagfors in Värmland.

    The dead person was found this morning.

    The alarm came to the police at 09.40. The person was found outdoors in a residential area.

    A preliminary investigation regarding murder or manslaughter was opened.

    During the day, four people were arrested by the police. Three of them are now under arrest and the fourth has been released.

    The police write on their website that several locations are currently cordoned off.

    A technical investigation is underway and is expected to continue during the evening.

  • Two cars and moose in accident on E18

    A car collided with a moose on the E18 outside Töcksfors in Värmland on Wednesday evening.

    Then another car drove into the other.

    Six people are involved in the accident, but their injuries are unclear.

    There is a complete standstill in traffic on the E18 in the direction of Norway. The road will be closed for a couple of hours, the police wrote at 9:30 p.m.

    A South African pilot had to make an emergency landing after a long cobra appeared next to him in the cockpit.

    Rudolph Erasmus flew four passengers in a private plane. At 11,000 feet, he suddenly felt something move beside him, at his hip.

    But when he looked down, he saw a cobra disappear under the chair.

    The discovery led to his decision to land immediately.

  • Man arrested for rape

    Early on Wednesday evening, the police received an alert that a woman had been raped indoors in Södertälje municipality.

    A suspected perpetrator was arrested at the scene.

    Among leading European stock exchanges, it was not as bad as in Stockholm.

    The FTSE100 index in London rose 0.4 percent.

    The CAC40 index in Paris and the DAX index in Frankfurt fell by 0.4 and 0.5 percent, respectively.
