Henrik von Eckermann and the horse King Edward win the World Cup final in American Omaha, TT reports.

They are already ranked as the best crew in the world and have dominated the sport for the past year.

Twice before, von Eckermann has finished third in the final, which no Swede has so far managed to win.

  • Israel: More rocket attacks from Syria

    Israel’s military states that three more rockets were fired from Syria at Israel on the night of Sunday.

    This means that a total of six rockets were fired from Israel’s northeastern neighbor within the space of a couple of hours.

    The Israeli military says the attacks were met with artillery fire at the areas in Syria from which the rockets were fired.

    The rocket fire comes after several days of escalating violence on several fronts following tensions in Jerusalem and after Israeli police in a nighttime raid on Wednesday used tear gas and fired rubber-coated bullets at Muslims barricaded in the al-Aqsa Mosque, which is one of Islam’s holiest sites.

    There are no reports of people being injured or killed by the latest rockets. (TT)

  • Police chase ended in collision with house facade

    A police car on call has driven into a house facade in Upplands Väsby during the night.

    – They were looking for some people who were suspected of burglary when, for an unknown reason, they lost control of the car and crashed into the facade of the house, says Jens Mårtensson, officer on duty at the police in Stockholm.

    The officers in the car were not seriously injured, but were taken to hospital for a check-up.

    – The suspected thieves did not get away. They were arrested anyway, says Jens Mårtensson.

    No bystanders were injured in connection with the traffic accident.

  • The police are investigating a serious crime in Stockholm

    A large police operation is carried out around Tegnérlunden in central Stockholm during the night.

    According to witnesses, the park has been cordoned off and a large number of police officers are in the area.

    – I can say as much as that we are investigating a suspected serious crime, says Jens Mårtensson, duty officer at the police in Stockholm.

    The alarm came in to the police at 01:07.

  • Cameras should detect women without a veil

    Iranian authorities have begun installing cameras in public places to identify women who do not wear the veil.

    Women found without the hijab, a veil that covers the hair, will receive a text message with a warning text about the consequences, the country’s police have announced, according to the BBC.

    In a statement published by state news agency Irna, police said the surveillance cameras use so-called “smart” technology to identify the women and then send documents and warning messages to those who violate the hijab law.

    The veiling law was introduced in Iran in 1983, four years after the Islamic revolution. (TT)

  • Drug seizure after operation against Bandidos

    During Easter Eve, the police carried out a major operation against Bandidos in Växjö.

    The police struck in connection with the motorcycle gang’s supposed meeting at their premises outside Växjö.

    Among other things, they seized about forty portion-packed bags with suspected amphetamines on the lot outside the premises.

    Three people were also arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, serious illegal driving and minor drug offences.

    In addition, the police seized two vehicles impounded by the Kronofogden.

  • Faked his death and escaped – killer caught

    Convicted murderer and rapist Thabo Bester, who escaped from a South African prison by faking his own death, has been arrested in Tanzania.

    Bester has been on the run for a year, after he was believed to have set himself on fire in his cell.

    Last month, a new autopsy report showed the body in the cell was not his.

    According to BBC Bester was arrested on Friday with his girlfriend and a third person, and will now be extradited to South Africa.

  • New protests despite the tense situation

    Tens of thousands of people in Israel gathered on Saturday in new protests against the government’s criticized proposal to reduce the power of the judiciary.

    In Tel Aviv, a large protest was held barely two kilometers from the place where a suspected terrorist act occurred on Friday, TT reports.

    The demonstrators held a minute’s silence for the victims of the car attack, as well as for the young sisters who were shot dead in the West Bank and others who have been affected in recent times.

  • Cameras should expose women without veils

    The Iranian regime will install cameras in public places to detect, and punish, women who do not follow the country’s dress code.

    This was announced by the country’s police on Saturday, write Reuters.

    Women caught without a veil will be given a “warning message of the consequences,” it said in a statement.

    The move is the latest in the regime’s attempt to maintain power as more and more women defy the dress code.

    Despite women risking arrest if they don’t cover their hair, many are still seen going without a veil in malls, restaurants and streets.

    Meanwhile, the Internet has been flooded with videos of women showing their hair in protest against the regime.

  • Risk of grass fires this weekend

    Right now there is a risk of grass fires in several places in Sweden, reports Echo.

    SMHI has issued a notice about the risk of grass fire. It mainly applies Sunday afternoon until 6 pm in snow-free parts of Götaland and southern Svealand.

    But it’s important to keep an eye on it – the weather can change quickly and then there can be more areas of risk.

  • Done with new government in Estonia

    There will be a coalition government in Estonia.

    The liberal Reform Party, led by Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, became the largest party by a good margin in the election on March 5.

    After tough negotiations, it is now clear that they will form a government with the relatively newly formed center party Estonia 200 and the current cooperation partner the Social Democrats, TT reports.

    – This agreement ensures that Estonia is protected, that we can continue as an independent and self-sufficient country, says Kallas at a press conference.

    Defense and security are at the top of the new government’s agenda, with Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine.

    In order for us to call you a crazy driver or your drive a crazy drive, you would have to drive the vehicle in an insane way.
