  • The market for holiday homes is cooling down

Interest in summer cottages skyrocketed during the pandemic – in June 2021, 1,036 holiday homes were sold.

The corresponding figure in 2022 was 740 sales.

Now the hot market seems to be cooling down, reports Today’s news.

This year, it is not likely that holiday homes will be a priority purchase, says Per-Arne Sandegren, head of analysis at Swedish Mäklarstatistik, to the newspaper.

    – I don’t think we will see any price increases for holiday homes in the near term. After all, holiday homes are a kind of luxury consumption, you can compare them to buying a sailboat. Few need it, but those who can afford it do. It’s a kind of unnecessary extra consumption that the better-off can indulge in, says Per-Arne Sandgren.
