Four people were injured when a man armed with an ax began attacking diners at three nearby Chinese restaurants in the Auckland suburb of Albany, New Zealand, on Monday night.
A 24-year-old man was arrested at the scene. The motive for the attack is unclear, but the man appears to have attacked guests at the restaurants at random, according to witnesses.
The condition of the injured is said to be stable. (TT)

A man in his 30s has suffered stab wounds after he was hit by a sharp object in Bredäng in southern Stockholm.
A suspected perpetrator was held at the scene and could then be arrested by the police.

That’s where the man was found, but according to police, it’s too early to say if that’s where he was attacked.

The Swedish Armed Forces, together with the Officers’ Union and SACO-S FM, have signed two new collective agreements for pilots in the air force, writes the Swedish Armed Forces on its website.
It has also been agreed to raise the pilots’ salaries. And the pilots who do not have 55 as the retirement age will receive an extra premium provision for the pension. This is SEK 4,000 a month for 20 years. The money begins to be set aside ten years after the pilot training begins.
– We are self-critical and of course could have acted earlier, but this agreement is more positive than I could have hoped for. I am very satisfied that we have now arrived at new conditions for the air force’s pilots, says air force chief Jonas Wikman in a comment.

Israel has deployed attack helicopters in the West Bank. It happened in connection with a “massive firefight” in Jenin, Israeli media reports.
It started with the Israeli military entering the city in the middle of the night to arrest wanted extremists. But was met with battles.
Palestinian authorities confirm five casualties so far, including a 15-year-old boy. A large number of Palestinians as well as several Israeli soldiers are said to have been injured.

At a donor conference for Sudan in Geneva, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday appealed to countries to increase aid pledges for Sudan, which is experiencing a major humanitarian crisis.
The conflict between the rival military factions in Sudan has led to the displacement of 2.2 million people, reports Reuters.
According to the UN, around 3 billion dollars are needed this year for humanitarian aid in Sudan and for those leaving the country.
Only a fraction of this has been funded.
– Without strong international support, Sudan could quickly become a place of lawlessness and spread insecurity throughout the region, Guterres warned at a fund-raising conference organized by Germany, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt and the United Nations.
A workshop at Volvo Cars in Torslanda has been evacuated after an alarm about an ammonia leak.
– There was a small ammonia leak, and a small number of people had to leave the workshop, says Magnus Holst, press manager at Volvo Cars.

At least 41 people have died after last week’s school massacre in Uganda.
A local Islamist terrorist group, ADF, is said to be behind the bloody attack.
Several families have had their children returned in coffins, but many others may be forced to wait several more days for answers.
The majority of the dead are students who attended the school. According to the country’s authorities, the bodies found show that the victims were shot, burned or hacked to death.
The attack is the deadliest in Uganda since 2010.
Tonight, the British Parliament will vote on sanctions against former Prime Minister Boris Johnson after the “partygate” scandal.
But Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will not participate – he will receive Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson at Downing Street. It reports The Guardian.

Coop has communicated in its social media that “The goods that Mondelez sells to us are not produced and do not contain raw materials from Russia. Marabou is manufactured in Sweden. We are in dialogue with Mondelez about the situation and are closely monitoring developments.”
Several local Ica dealers have stopped selling Mondelez. But I have not seen any statements from Ica or Axfood from central sources.
