A search effort has been launched in Avisko and Norwegian Narvik after two 30-year-old Danes were reported missing, TT reports.

According to the news agency, it is about two siblings, a man and a woman, who started hiking on Thursday with the destination day on Sunday. When they did not arrive, the police were alerted by relatives, who believe that no one has heard from the siblings since Thursday.

    – But it is also natural as there is poor coverage in the area, says Kai Eriksen, operations leader at the Norwegian police, to TT.

The siblings are described as seasoned hikers and one of the police’s theories is that they stopped at one of the tourist cabins on the mountain and after an unexpected storm.

The pair of siblings are now searching through a collaboration between Norwegian and Swedish police, with mountain rescue and a helicopter.

Update: The Swedish police write on their website that the hikers were found in a cabin on the Norwegian side of the border and that they are doing well.
