Djurparksföreningen: Chimpanzee Torsten killed unnecessarily

In December, Furuviksparken shot and killed three-year-old chimpanzee Torsten after he escaped with six other monkeys. In addition to Torsten, it was also decided to kill the chimpanzees Santino, Linda and Manda.

The zoo association Eaza now says that Torsten is considered dangerous and that he was shot unnecessarily, reports P4 Gävleborg. Only adult primates are dangerous to humans.

    A 14-year-old Mexican boy has been arrested on suspicion of eight murders, believed to be linked to the country’s drug cartels.

    The boy is called “El Chapito” – a reference to the Mexican drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán – and is believed to have shot dead eight people in the same family in January this year.

    The boy is reported to have claimed that he had been drugged and forced to carry out the murders under threats.

  • 200 arrested during pension protests

    Thousands of French gathered on Thursday in several major cities to protest against new pension laws that the government pushed through without support in the National Assembly.

    Most of the demonstrations were said to have been peaceful at first, but towards the evening it became violent in several places, French media reports.
