  • Administrative law: Wrong to deny general assembly

In February 2023, the police refused permission for a public gathering in connection with the Turkish and Iraqi embassies in Stockholm.

The application revealed that the person was planning Koran burnings.

The police authority said they could not guarantee that security and order could be maintained during the gatherings. They also referred to an assessment that the Security Police has made that Koran burnings can increase the threat of attacks against Sweden and Swedish interests.

Now the Administrative Court has determined that the police made a mistake.

    – The opportunities available to refuse permission for a public gathering are very limited. The Administrative Court does not consider that the threat presented and which has been the basis for the Police Authority’s decision to deny the permits is sufficiently concrete and connected to the gathering in question, says Eva-Lotta Hedin, lawyer, in a press release.

  • Säpo: Five arrested for labeling terrorist crimes after Koran burning

Five people have been arrested on suspicion of labeling a terrorist crime, writes the Security Police, Säpo, in a press release.

The suspected crime is judged to have international links to violent Islamist extremism.

The persons were arrested on Tuesday morning during operations in Eskilstuna, Linköping and Strängnäs.

The incident is one of several that the Security Police worked with after the protests that were directed at Sweden in connection with a high-profile Koran burning in January.

“The current case is one of several that the Security Police has worked on after the protests that were directed at Sweden in connection with the high-profile burning of the Koran in January and where there are international calls for attacks,” says Susanna Trehörning, deputy unit head for counter-terrorism at the Security Police, in a press release.

On February 26, far-right politician Rasmus Paludan burned the Koran outside the Turkish embassy.

Aftonbladet is looking for the Security Police.

  • Alecta must take measures

The pension giant Alectas must take several measures now after the fallout losses in March.

“The losses in the three American banks account for a small part of Alecta’s capital and the impact on the customers’ pensions is very limited. But it has seriously damaged the customers’ trust in Alecta and our share management,” says the company’s CEO Magnus Billing in a press release.

The company also announces that it has decided on a series of organizational changes. Among other things, new positions are to be added.

“It is now up to us to prove that we deserve their trust again. Alecta’s share management needs a fresh start and a new management. I have therefore, after discussions with the board, decided on these measures,” continues Magnus Billing.

  • Then Paris will be free of rental bicycles

The era of rental park bikes will soon be over in Paris.

Now the city has decided that the contracts with the companies that rent out electric scooters will expire on September 1. That’s what the city’s mayor Anne Hidalgo writes on Twitter.

The decision was made after a referendum in the city, where 89 percent voted in favor of a ban on renting out the vehicles.

  • Warner Bros wants to make Harry Potter series

The production company Warner Bros wants to make a Harry Potter series. This is stated by two sources Bloomberg.

Each season will be based on one of the seven books in JK Rowling’s companion series.

If the deal goes through, the series is planned to air on HBO.

A train has derailed near Voorschoten in the southern Netherlands, reports Allgemeen Dagblad.

  • Russian attack on Odessa

The Ukrainian port city of Odessa was attacked early Tuesday by Russian drones, local authorities said.

“Damage has been caused,” local authorities write on Facebook.

The statement also quoted Odessa’s military administration as warning of a possible second wave of attacks.

Before the invasion, Odessa on the Black Sea was a popular holiday destination for both Ukrainians and Russians. Since the war began in February last year, the port city has been bombed repeatedly. (TT)
