Cars and houses damaged in explosion

Several cars and a property were damaged in an explosion in eastern Malmö during the night of Tuesday, writes Sydsvenskan.

At 2am, SOS Alarm received several calls about a loud bang.

– We were able to trace it to Annelundsgatan, where we find a crime scene. We can see several damaged cars and some structural damage to a property, says duty police officer Thomas Paulsson to the newspaper.

The cars are parked at a car company. The site will be examined by bomb technicians during the morning.

– Our opinion is that one or more cars have exploded, says Thomas Paulsson to Sydsvenskan.

  • Man found shot – great effort

    A man was found shot in Flemingsberg, south of Stockholm, during the night towards Tuesday. The police were alerted at 00.58 and have a large operation in the area.

    – The man was shot with more than one shot, says Fredrik Nilsson, police officer on duty.

    The man was found with serious injuries inside, but police aren’t sure that’s where he was shot.

    A preliminary investigation into attempted murder has been launched.

    The police say they do not see any immediate connection to the shooting on Kungsholmen on Monday evening.

  • Villa on fire in Ängelholm: “Totally burnt out”

    Police, emergency services and ambulance services have been alerted to a fire in a villa in Ängelholm, after a caller saw heavy smoke coming from the property.

    – When we arrived at the scene, the property was completely engulfed in flames, says Tobias Aldgård, officer on duty at the Skåne Nordväst rescue service.

    It is still too hot to enter the building and the fire service will let the villa burn down.

    There are no reports of injuries.

    – There is daily activity in the property, so there should not have been any people there, from what we have received information about, says Tobias Aldgård.

    The rescue service estimates that the extinguishing work will be completed around 02:00.

    The alarm came in at 10:47 p.m.

  • Belarus opposition leader sentenced to 15 years in prison

    Opposition leader Svetlana Tichanovskaya has today been sentenced to 15 years in prison in her absence, Reuters reports.

    The sentence comes from a court in Minsk, which believes that Svetlana Tichanovskaja was guilty of treason and “conspiracy to seize power”, a sentence which, according to her, is a punishment for her efforts to promote democracy in the country.

    It was in 2020 that Svetlana Tichanovskaya ran in the Belarusian presidential election against Aleksandr Lukashenko.

    Tikhanovskaya was considered to have won the election, but instead Lukashenko was named president and the next day Tikhanovskaya was forced to flee the country.

    Since then she lives in exile.

    Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has fired several high-ranking employees of the Ukrainian security service. This is reported by the Ukrainian TV channel TCH.

    In total, it will be about five employees with high positions, including the deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine, the head of the department in charge of financial support to the security service and the head of the security service of the Zaporizhzhya region.

    Zelenskyi has also appointed two people as replacements.

    According to TCH, the dismissals are part of the “great purge” within the Ukrainian state structure that affects the security services as well as state customs officials, the Ministry of Defense, state tax authorities and the police.

  • Car caught fire while driving

    A passenger car caught fire while driving on a county road in Eskilstuna.

  • Explosion in residential building

    Early this morning something exploded in a residential building in Valbo in Gävle.

    No one was injured, but windows have been broken and there is shrapnel damage on facades, according to the police.

    – Something has detonated and during the day we have done a technical examination of the scene, talked to witnesses and knocked on doors in the area, says Pelle Vamstad, at the police command center.

    The alarm was received by the police at 06.45 when a guard raised the alarm.

    The police have launched an investigation into violations of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods and unlawful threats.

  • One to hospital after fight

    The police have been alerted to an ongoing fight in Vasaparken in Norrköping.

    A man, who was injured in the fight, has been taken to hospital by ambulance.

    The crime scene has been cordoned off and a man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault.

  • Several dead after landslide

    About ten people have died after a landslide on the Indonesian island of Serasan in the South China Sea, several news agencies report.

    Several buildings have been destroyed and around 50 people are still missing.

    – Many people who need help have not been able to be reached because we still have difficulty getting to the affected areas, says Abdul Mahari, spokesperson for Indonesia’s state emergency agency.

    Normally it takes about five hours to reach the islands by boat, due to the weather it is taking longer now.
