Billion loss for Norway’s oil fund

Norway’s state oil fund had a return of -14.1 percent in 2022. A loss of 1.637 billion Norwegian kroner, roughly 1.7 billion Swedish kronor, reports Norwegian E24.

Nevertheless, the value of the fund has increased. Among other things, because the Norwegian state had SEK 1,000 billion to its credit from oil and gas revenues.

  • Astrid Lindgren’s world is suing the state for millions

    The theme park Astrid Lindgren’s world is suing the state for SEK 52 million, reports P4 Kalmar.

    The reason for the lawsuit is that the park was forced to remain closed during the pandemic summer of 2020 due to how the Police Authority interpreted the restrictions.

    Astrid Lindgren’s world has previously been vindicated in an appeal to the Administrative Court.

    – We have now decided that we will go ahead and have this tried in court. It is an injury that we have caused, says the theme park’s CEO Joacim Johansson to TT.

  • Several car fires in Malmö

    Within the space of just over an hour, the police and emergency services were alerted to four car fires in several different locations in Malmö, reports South Sweden.

    The first alarm came at 4 o’clock on Tuesday morning and at least seven cars have been damaged in connection with the fires.

    In the last week, Malmö has been affected by around ten fires. On Monday, a man was arrested on suspicion of attempted arson.

    At the moment, the police cannot comment on whether there is a connection between the recent fires.

    – It is complex and may involve several perpetrators, says Calle Persson, press spokesperson for the police.

  • The police tried to stop the car – used nail mats to help

    During the night, the police tried to stop a car in Värmland between Hagfors and Filipstad. The driver, a man in his 40s, did not stop and the police used spike mats to try to stop the car.

    Finally, the car was found driven down a slope. The driver was then no longer at the scene but was searched with the help of a dog and found. He was arrested and is now suspected of illegal driving, gross negligence in traffic, drugged driving and attempted serious violence against an official.

    There were also two female passengers in the car, they are not suspected of any crime.

  • Suspected attempted murder in Järfälla – man arrested

    A man in his 30s was arrested at midnight on Tuesday on suspicion of attempted murder in Järfälla, north of Stockholm.

    The man was arrested after a woman was found injured below a multi-storey building.

    – We assess that it was a high case and that the two people had a relationship with each other. We think the woman fell from a balcony, says Ola Österling, press spokesperson at the Stockholm Police.

    The woman probably fell five floors, according to the police. The woman and the man must have lived together in the apartment.

    She is being treated in hospital with life-threatening injuries, the police write on their website.

    The man has been arrested by prosecutors.

  • Trend break – house prices are increasing in Stockholm

    Danske Bank’s house price indicator shows that the prices of condominiums in Stockholm municipality rose by 2.6 percent in January compared to December, writes TT.

    It is the first rise in a single month since August. But the turnaround may be temporary.

    “However, we believe that the rise in prices will be short-lived and that prices will fall again already in February when the Riksbank will most likely deliver another large interest rate increase,” writes Danske Bank in a comment.

    The bank’s economists are counting on a total price drop of 20 percent from the peak – that corresponds to another seven percent down from today’s position.

  • Sweden second worst in the Nordic countries on the corruption list

    The organization Transparency International now presents its annual corruption index, where Sweden falls in its ranking, reports Echo.

    Transparency International aims to stop corruption in the world and increase transparency.

    Among the countries of the world, Sweden ends up high in ranking – but at the worst level for the country since 2012.

    Sweden is the second worst in the Nordics, with 83 points, while Denmark is in first place with 90 points. Finland is also above Sweden with 87 points.

    No country gets the full pot, i.e. 100 points.

  • Death toll rises after explosion in Pakistan

    An explosion, or suicide attack, occurred in connection with a prayer time in a mosque in the city of Peshawar in northwestern Pakistan on Monday morning.

    The death toll continues to rise – 83 people have now been confirmed dead, reports AFP.

    Around 400 people are said to have been in the mosque at the time of the crime. Close to 150 have been injured and are in a life-threatening condition.

  • Biden wants to abolish corona states of emergency this spring

    US President Joe Biden has notified the US Congress that the two national states of emergency declared due to the corona pandemic are to end on May 11.

    The decline comes just over three years after the states of emergency were declared and means that the coronavirus is now seen as a threat that can be dealt with through the authorities’ ordinary powers.

    The formal lifting of the national emergency has been debated in the US Congress, where Republicans have pushed for it to happen sooner.
