Tunnel construction is paused for five years
Work on a tunnel construction on the Mälarbanan in Solna and Sundbyberg is put on hold. It will take until 2028 before the major works can begin, according to the Swedish Transport Administration.
– It is an undesirable situation and it is not fun. We are disappointed and find it sad to have ended up in this situation, says Erik Lundman, program manager at the Swedish Transport Administration, to Middle of.
For several years, the Swedish Transport Administration has been working on rebuilding the railway section Tomteboda – Kallhäll north of Stockholm from two to four tracks.
The Swedish Transport Administration recently announced that the start of the planned tunnel construction will be pushed forward from 2024 to 2026 at the earliest. Now, instead, the starting year 2028 applies.
The reason for the delay is that the Swedish Transport Administration and the municipalities concerned do not have all agreements and permits in place. (TT)

Russia rages after SVT’s revelation
Russian authorities call SVT’s documentary “The Shadow War”, which was made in collaboration with Norwegian NRK, Danish DR and Finnish EPN, a “provocation”.
According to spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, it is a “coordinated false story” concocted by the countries’ governments.
– It is clear that the authorities and the security service are behind this provocation, because these television channels are closely connected with and financed by the state, says Zakharova.
She believes that other countries’ authorities and security services have also participated in the “provocation”, but does not specify which ones.
– We will continue to respond strongly to all such provocations, says Zakharova.
Uppdrag gränskning’s responsible publisher Axel Björklund says that Russia is trying to reduce the disclosure.
“The four Nordic TV channels SVT, DR, NRK and EPN have been investigating Russian intelligence activities in our countries for just over a year. The revelations surrounding our first episode on Wednesday have been reproduced all over the world. It is obvious but also transparent that Russia is annoyed by the review and now try to reduce our conclusions,” he writes in an email to Aftonbladet.
