    Police and emergency services were called to an apartment building in Strängnäs after a loud bang just before 01:00.

    – There is a slight smell of gunpowder at a gate, but no material damage has been detected. Everything points to the fact that it was a fireworks display, says police officer on duty Lars-Göran Nilseryd.

  • “Serious crime of violence” outdoors

    A “serious crime of violence” occurred shortly after 11.30 pm outdoors in Motala, the police state on their website.

    “The police are on the scene and have started investigative measures. At the moment, no further information can be provided,” writes duty officer Lars-Göran Nilseryd.

  • Was going to feed the fish – burned down the kitchen

    A man in Malmö has been sued for hundreds of thousands of kroner after he accidentally set fire to his estranged mother’s apartment.

    It reports Home and Rent.

    The idea was that the man would be a fish watcher for the mother’s aquarium fish. But one evening when the man was in the apartment to feed the fish, he happened to prepare food on the stove for himself.

    The only problem was that the man fell asleep and woke up to the fire alarm screeching and a destroyed apartment.

    Earlier this year, MKB sued the man in the district court for SEK 633,000. The man did not appear for the trial, but has now agreed on a settlement of SEK 100,000, according to the newspaper.

  • Suspected dangerous object found outdoors

    At 10 p.m., the police were alerted to a suspected dangerous object on Drottningtorget in Malmö.

    The item is said to have been found outdoors by a private individual who alerted the police.

    The National Bomb Squad has been called and the site has been cordoned off.

    Later, the police announced that the object was in fact fireworks and that they had released the barricades.

    The Swedish Transport Administration’s major planning problems have caused great concern among companies such as Volvo Cars, Stora Enso, SSAB and Green Cargo.

    In a letter signed by the big companies, they are now appealing to Minister of Business Ebba Busch (KD) and Minister of Infrastructure Andreas Carlson (KD) to cancel parts of the summer track work.

    In the letter, which Today’s news informed, the companies call a meeting about the situation after the dispute threatens “a large proportion” of the companies’ important transports.

    “To do at least 12 weeks of planning work in many cases in a few days is a completely unreasonable situation both for the freight operators and for our goods companies’ own value chains,” they write in the letter.

  • Drank diluted methanol cider – at least 16 dead

    Russian authorities have launched an investigation after at least 16 people suddenly died and 35 people fell ill after drinking cider in the Russian region of Ulyanovsk, AFP reports.

    According to Russian media, the cider was mixed with the deadly chemical methanol.

    The cider, which is produced in the Samara region, has now been seized by police, according to Ulyanovsk’s governor.

    Deaths linked to alcohol mixed with methanol are also known in Russia. Especially in rural areas and in areas with a low standard of living, according to AFP.

    In 2021, at least 34 people died in the country after drinking alcohol containing the chemical.

    Former FBI agent Robert Hanssen has been found dead in his cell in a prison in the US state of Colorado, reports CBS News.

    He was 79 years old.

    Robert Hanssen was arrested in 2001 in what is known as one of the biggest spy scandals in US history.

    During his 25 years as an FBI agent, Robert Hanssen is said to have sold secret material to the Soviet Union, then to Russia.

  • Apple releases AR headset

    Apple is now announcing the release of its rewritten mixed reality headset dubbed “Vision Pro”.

    It looks like a pair of ski goggles and is expected to “seamlessly blend the digital world with the real world”, writes The Verge.

    The headset is controlled using eyes, hands and voice and has a separate battery that is worn on the hip.

  • Teenage boy robbed and threatened

    The police received an alert on Monday evening about a teenage boy who had been robbed of his clothes in Sätra in Gävle.

    – People must have come forward and started talking to the teenager. Some form of threat must also have been uttered, says Nadya Norton, who is a press spokesperson at the police.

    It is unclear which garments are involved. At the moment, no one has been arrested as a suspect in the robbery.

  • Boy in motocross accident – seriously injured

    A boy under the age of 15 has been involved in a motocross accident in Ringarum in Valdemarsvik municipality.

    He has been taken to hospital by ambulance. The damage is described as serious.

    The incident occurred at 7:30 p.m. There are no suspicions of crime.

    There is currently a fire in a forest area in Fisksätra outside Stockholm.

  • Half the island on fire – waterbombed by helicopters

    A headland on Storö outside Unnaryd is on fire, reports say P4 Halland.

    A large rescue mission has gone out to the island by boat, according to the duty officer of the rescue service, Peter Stened.

    Half the forest on the island is said to have burned down.

    The island is now waterbombed by helicopters.
