today at 04.13 Johan Edgar

The e-commerce giant Amazon states that 18,000 employees will be laid off. These are the most extensive layoffs in the company’s history, although they are only a small part of the company’s global workforce of just over 1.5 million people.

“Amazon has survived uncertain and difficult economic times in the past, and we will continue to do so. These changes will help us achieve our long-term opportunities with a stronger cost structure,” Amazon CEO Andy Jassy wrote in an email to employees, which the company also published. (TT)
