FOI expert on school attacks: ‘New form of terrorism’
Two teachers were murdered in connection with the school attacks that hit Scania last school year. The death occurred in Eslöv, Kristianstad and Malmö. Among other things at the Malmö Latin School.

Proposes billion-dollar settlement after cancer lawsuit
The pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson has been sued for 25 years by tens of thousands of people who used the company’s talcum powder and got cancer.
On Tuesday, the American pharmaceutical company put forward a proposal for a settlement of 8.9 billion dollars, corresponding to roughly 90 billion Swedish kronor, with customers, writes TT.
Talc contains traces of asbestos and is said to have caused ovarian cancer.
The company has never admitted wrongdoing but stopped selling the talc-based powder in the US and Canada in 2020.
“The company’s continued belief is that these claims are strange and lack scientific evidence,” says vice president Erik Haas in a statement.
Unrest at al-Aqsa Mosque
Israeli police allegedly attacked Palestinians in the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem early Wednesday morning, according to Palestinian media.
The official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that dozens of mosque-goers were injured in the police operation.
The incident led to a wave of Palestinian protests and condemnation of the violence. In Gaza, the Islamist movement Hamas called for protests.
According to Israel’s military, air strikes warning of incoming rockets have been heard in Israeli communities near the Gaza Strip.
It is not yet clear what triggered the violence at the mosque. The Israeli police state that they used violence to get people out of the mosque with fireworks, stones and sticks. A policeman was reportedly hit by a rock and injured, and dozens of Palestinians were reportedly arrested. (TT)
Young man shot – taken to hospital
A man in his 20s was shot during the night of Wednesday in Haninge, south of Stockholm. Earlier in the evening, he was “unlawfully detained” in Salem, the police write on their website.
When he fled from the perpetrators, he was shot.
The man was taken to hospital in an ambulance. His injuries are said not to be life-threatening.

Three dead in prison riot
Three inmates were killed during a riot at La Roca high-security prison in the Ecuadorian port city of Guayaquil on Tuesday.
When the violence broke out in the prison, which has room for 150 inmates, there were 23 prisoners in the building. Most of them leaders of various drug-trafficking gangs who fight for power both in prison and on the streets.
Since 2021, at least 400 people have been killed in violence at various prisons in the country. (TT)

The Red Cross is cutting 1,500 positions
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) must cut costs and be forced to cut 1,500 posts within the next year, TT reports, after the organization released the information in a press release.
The reason is that the organization expects sharp cuts in the contributions for human rights from donor nations in the next two years.
“The ICRC must more consciously shift its efforts towards programs and places where we can achieve the greatest impact, in line with our life-saving emergency aid to people living where armed conflicts are ongoing,” the organization writes in the statement.
The equivalent of approximately SEK 4.9 billion must be saved until next spring.
Today, the ICRC has around 20,000 employees worldwide.
Suspected bomb woman Darya is charged with terrorism
26-year-old Darya Trepova, suspected of being behind the cafe bomb that killed military blogger Vladlen Tatarsky, has been charged, reports Reuters.
Russian authorities accuse her of terrorism, which means she risks upwards of 20 years in prison.
According to Russia, 42 people were injured in the explosion, of which 24 are still in hospital.
Heavy fire at egg producer
There is a severe fire at an egg producer in Valne, reports Östersunds-Posten.
The fire broke out around 7 p.m., but is said to have worsened since then.
Pictures show open flames rising from the roof.

Man found with stab wounds in park
A 25-year-old man has been found injured outside at Hembygdsparken in Ängelholm.
