SJ cannot release tickets for some routes before the autumn holiday week – because the Swedish Transport Administration has not given notice of planned track works.

Track work is planned for the Lund–Hässleholm route on October 28 to 29, the weekend before the autumn holidays, and SJ’s tickets for that route are not yet available.

– There will be trains. We will sell tickets. They are not for sale yet, as we are waiting for information from the Swedish Transport Administration, says Martina Nord, press communicator at SJ.

When the trains are rerouted, the journey time changes. According to Nord, SJ does not put tickets up for sale before the company knows what the diversion means for passengers.

– Now it is a month until that weekend and we have not received any information. We are not happy about that either. We want our travelers to be able to buy tickets in good time.

However, both SJ and the Swedish Transport Administration emphasize that the autumn holiday is not a big travel weekend, which according to SJ means that no ticket shortage is expected.

Last year, the Swedish Transport Administration was severely delayed with the Christmas train schedules – which led to SJ’s website crashing when the tickets were released in November.

Late announcements from the Swedish Transport Administration have been a constant throughout the year, according to Felicia Danielsson, press communicator at the authority. She emphasizes, however, that the forecast has improved since last spring and is now around four weeks.

– We will let you know as soon as we are ready, she says.
