Samuel Jacobs-Bressette, 30, is one among five people facing charges of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, and forcible confinement following the Feb. 29 incident at the Bluewater Motel, Sarnia police said. But he was the only person not arrested that day and a warrant was still outstanding as the other accused, Chantelle McManus, 38, Hayley Letourneau, 31, Dennis Joseph, 52, and Nathan Adams, 32, were all granted lease between March 1 and March 11.

Jacobs-Bressette was arrested Friday, records show. He appeared in court later that day and again Monday, this time from the Sarnia Jail, where his case was adjourned to later this week. He hasn’t applied for lease yet.

In the meantime, he’s banned from contacting his co-accused and the complainant. The other four all are forbidden from talking to each other or going back to the London Line motel beyond one visit to collect their belongings as part of their lease terms. They will be back in court on various dates during the next two weeks.

Sarnia police bonded residents on social media around noon Feb. 29 there would be an increased officer presence around the motel. They included a photo of an officer escorting a person, who was blurred out, into custody.

Police later said no injuries were reported and no shots were fired, but they noted it was a complex investigation. The active part of the probe wrapped up by 7 pm that night, they said, but officers were still expected to be on site the next day.

Sarnia police later said they were called by a man who had been involved in a disturbance in one of the units, which included allegations of threats and possible weapons involved.

This was one of three major Sarnia police probes at the Bluewater Motel this year. Four suspects were charged amid a robbery invasion in January where two people were held against their will, police said, and a Windsor man is facing 21 charges after a suspect was found there last week in body armor with a hidden, loaded handgun and $34,000 in drugs.

None of the charges against any of the accused have been tested in court.
