Pentagon Spokesperson Brigadier General Patrick Ryder stated at the press conference that the Minister of Defense Yaşar Güler and the US Secretary of Defense spoke on the phone. Stating that it was a productive meeting, Ryder said, “We will keep the communication lines open.”
“WE ARE SAD”
The statement emphasized that the USA and Turkey are NATO allies and drew attention to Turkey’s fight against terrorism.
Speaking about the Turkish drone shot down in Syria, Ryder said, “It is a sad situation. We have no indication that Turkey deliberately targeted US forces.” He evaluated the incident as ‘legitimate defense’.
