Last minute: Ukraine technical military unit announced the data of their research with the help of special software on Monday. Their results were shocking. Realizing that explosive devices are spread over a wide area of the country, the unit stated that the investigations continue.
The country’s Intelligence Association said on March 21 that at least 82,525 square kilometers of Ukraine’s land is suspected of containing explosive devices.
In the Facebook post, it was stated that these lands are now considered “dangerous zones”. No mention was made of how much of the land contained explosive devices prior to the Russian invasion on February 24.
RESEARCH CONTINUES
The association said the information was calculated using geographic information software in conjunction with Ukrainian mine action operator Demining Solutions. He added that these calculations are just the beginning and the work continues.
In modern warfare, technical military units build large support facilities such as airports, supply routes and fuel depots, and undertake tasks such as defusing mines and unexploded bombs.
