TANKS FORCED ENTERED THE UN BASE
In the statement made by UNIFIL, it was stated that 2 tanks belonging to the Israeli army entered the UN base in Ramyah by force in the morning, and that the main gate of the base was destroyed and 15 UN soldiers were slightly injured. UNIFIL said, “The tanks left the base approximately 45 minutes later, after the Israeli army stated through our liaison mechanism that the peacekeepers were endangered.”
UN IS WAITING FOR A STATEMENT FROM THE ISRAEL ARMY
Stating that 15 UN soldiers were slightly injured due to smoke from a gun fired at around 06.40 in the morning local time, UNIFIL said, “For the fourth time in recent days, we remind the Israeli army and all actors of their obligations to ensure the safety and security of UN personnel and property, and to always respect the inviolability of UN facilities.” he said.
Emphasizing that unauthorized entry into the UN base is a clear violation of international law and resolution 1701, UNIFIL said, “Any intentional attack against peacekeepers is a grave violation of international humanitarian law and resolution 1701. UNIFIL’s mandate provides for freedom of movement in the area of operation, and any restrictions in this regard are a violation of resolution 1701. “We demanded an explanation from the Israeli army about these shocking violations.”

LEBANON PRIME MINISTER: ISRAEL HAS PASSED A NEW PHASE
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to withdraw UNIFIL forces from the conflict area. According to DHA; Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati reacted to Netanyahu’s request for the withdrawal of UNIFIL soldiers from the south of Lebanon. Referring to Netanyahu’s call to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to withdraw UNIFIL from conflict zones, Mikati said, “Israel has entered a new phase of not complying with international legitimacy and international decisions.”
Stating that Lebanon condemns the attacks against UNIFIL and is committed to resolution 1701, Mikati called on the international community to take a “firm stance” to stop Israel’s aggression against Lebanon and international legitimacy.
