Last minute: There was a stampede during the Halloween celebrations held in the Itaewon district of Seoul, the capital of South Korea. Authorities reported that 146 people died in a stampede during the Halloween celebration in the Itaewon district, one of Seoul’s entertainment centers.
INVESTIGATION FOR THE REASON
Choi Cheon-sik, one of the officials of South Korea’s National Fire Service, stated that those in the back of the celebration thought that there was a stampede as a result of pushing the crowd in a narrow street. Stating that about 100 people were injured in the stampede, Choi stated that 50 of these people were diagnosed with sudden cardiac arrest.
MORE THAN 400 OFFICERS ARE INTERVENTION
Choi said that more than 400 emergency personnel and around 140 emergency vehicles across the country were dispatched to the scene. It is also feared that the death toll, which is 146, will increase.
On the other hand, according to some reports in the local media, after rumors of an unidentified celebrity coming to an entertainment venue in Itaewon, people flocked there, causing a stampede.
The reports claimed that about 100,000 people attended the Halloween celebrations on the streets of Itaewon.
