Breaking news: 35 people died and 45 were injured in the fire that broke out in the church in Egypt’s Giza province.
5,000 people gathered for the service at the Abu Sifin church in Imbaba, Giza. An electrical fire broke out at the point where the stampede took place. The fire caused the death and injury of dozens of people.
The congregation reportedly had just finished praying when the fire broke out.
Dozens of ambulances were dispatched to the scene in Giza as firefighters tried to extinguish the flames.
According to local media, most of the dead are thought to be children, as there is a nursery inside the church.
