Last Epoch will weaken OP builds because players want it that way

In Last Epoch it is possible to build pretty strong builds due to bugs – that could change soon. The developers gathered feedback from the community and are now planning bug fixes for builds that accidentally overperform.

A bug allowed you to build a strong build in Last Epoch that wasn’t actually possible. Another crazy build didn’t even require weapons, but was still stronger than most builds that require weapons. However, it is necessary to equip special gloves for this.

Last Epoch developers asked the community for feedback and conducted a survey focused on bug fixes and balance changes. Their conclusion is: The bugs that enable overpowering builds should be fixed.

The item factions help you to get the necessary items for your builds. In the guide we will explain to you which faction you should join. You can find out more about the factions in the video:

The community doesn’t want overpowering builds caused by bugs

What did the survey show? According to the developer, opinions differed greatly on some points. Two areas that the community clearly wants are the following:

  • Fixing bugs that cause skills or items to be overly powerful.
  • An alert in advance when a bug fix or balance change will result in an overly powerful build being nerfed.
  • What are the developers planning? On March 11th, the developers announced in the forum that they would address overpowering builds in Last Epoch with upcoming bug fixes. Already this week they plan to integrate two important fixes into the patch – in addition to the change to the Falconer’s “Dive Bomb” ability.

The two bug fixes primarily relate to the abilities of the sorcerer and the rune master. In their post, the developers emphasize that these are bug fixes:

In line with initial feedback, we would like to emphasize that these changes are being made as bug fixes and not balance changes. They are not intended to balance builds with these passive skills or abilities, but rather to fix bugs that randomly affect their power.

    The developers of Last Epoch

Builds that do not owe their strength to gameplay bugs will not be nerfed. As early as March 8th, the developers wrote in the Last Epoch forum “not to make adjustments to skills and items that provide above-average performance but are not bugs.”

How does the community react to this? In the forum post from March 8th, several users are calling for various nerfs for certain classes, such as the sorcerer and the falconer. Another user notes that all builds should be “playable and fun.”

And someone writes that they should nerf the strong builds so that players “have to play”. This could allude to overpowering builds that players don’t have to do much with because skills or companions do the work for them.

Many in the community reacted to the post from March 11th with praise for the developers and the planned changes. Several users write “Capital W!”, which means something like: big win (victory/success).

One user writes in his comment: “Capital W for Eleventh Hour Games here. The community has spoken.” Another user expresses their concern in the comment that they could “nerf builds to the ground”. Several users replied that it was not a nerf, but a bug fix.

To what extent the planned bug fixes will affect the strongest builds in Last Epoch remains to be seen. It is not yet clear when the fix will be rolled out this week. At the moment, mages and especially rune masters seem to be leading the top builds.

But acolytes are also well represented in many lists in the form of sorcerers and necromancers. You can find the best builds for each class here: Last Epoch Tier List: Best Builds & Classes in the Endgame
