World star Casper Ruud defended Mikael Ymer.
It makes TV profiles Lasse Granqvist and Tommy Åström see red.
– Reprehensible, says Granqvist.
– It’s terrible, says Åström.
There have been many discussions and statements about Mikael Ymer in recent days, after the news that shocked the tennis world. In 2021, Ymer missed his sojourn reporting on three occasions, which violates the anti-doping rules in place, and he is now banned for a full 18 months from all tennis.
Racing towards the world star
Many have been critical of Ymer, saying that it is pure carelessness. But some have also come to his defense. Including the Norwegian superstar Casper Ruud, ranked fourth in the world.
– It can sometimes feel like you live like a prisoner, if you are not there at the hour when you are tested then you are in trouble, he said.
But now Ruud is severely criticized for his statements. In the Sporthuset podcast, TV profiles Lasse Granqvist and Tommy Åström, on C More and Discovery respectively, launch a serious attack on the Norwegian Ruud.
– Casper Ruud. We can meet at Karl Johan and we can talk about this. It is a competition condition that you submit to the regulations. If you can’t handle this, then you can’t take part in the competition. So there is nothing to like. But it is a basic requirement, says Lasse Granqvist in the podcast, according to Expressen.

“Is reprehensible”
Ruud was also critical of the tennis association not protecting Ymer more, something Granqvist does not buy at all.
– The basic premise that they must be protected in some way, that a confederation must act to protect the players – that is reprehensible reasoning Casper, it is reprehensible reasoning.
Even Tommy Åström roars back and believes that it is in no way a sin for the well-paid tennis players.
– This many-many-many-many millionaire. Who has a staff of leaders around him, who find it so tough to get this schedule in order. It’s simply awful. If I had a trash can, I didn’t bring it here to the Clarion Sign where we record, then Casper Ruud would have ended up right in it. Because I mean, how do you know Ymer hasn’t deliberately avoided these tests? It can be like that too. That is why the system exists, he says.
