Several Norwegian companies and authorities have been exposed to a major cyber attack, according to the national security agency NSM.
According to the newspaper Dagens Næringsliv, NSM was working full time on Monday to deal with what is described as a “serious cyber incident”.
– We are currently dealing with a very serious situation, which is more potent than the one we saw in the attack on the government departments this summer, says Sofie Nystrøm, head of NSM, to the newspaper.
Which companies were affected has not been made public.
In July, twelve Norwegian ministries were subjected to a cyber attack, where a previously unknown vulnerability in the software of a supplier was exploited.
As recently as Friday, NSM raised the alarm about major gaps in Norway’s digital security.
