During the refugee wave in 2015, the closed hotel located along the E14 just east of Åre village became one of the country’s largest asylum accommodation. Last week, the Swedish Migration Agency signed a temporary accommodation agreement for people on the run with a company registered in the Stockholm area.
The EU Mass Refugee Directive applies
The agreement is valid from 1 June to the last of September and applies to persons covered by the EU’s so-called mass exodus directive. They have the right to live there with full board indefinitely as long as the accommodation is in operation.
