The opposition and critics believe that the plans endanger the entire Israeli democracy.
According to Israeli media, there are at least 100,000 people who are out demonstrating on Saturday night.
– This protest is about defending our country. People have come here to defend democracy, said one of Saturday night’s protesters, former Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid, who represents the centrist Yesh Atid party.
Several protesters held up banners, with texts such as “Our children should not live in a dictatorship” and “Israel, we have a problem”.
Last weekend there was also a large demonstration against Netanyahu and his ultra-conservative government.
The Israeli government claims that there is no balance of power and that judges and state legal advisers have too much influence over legislation and governance.
Protests also took place in Jerusalem, Haifa and Beersheba.
