Large protests against German lignite mine – Greta Thunberg on site

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Authorities have decided to demolish Lützerati in order to mine lignite and several hundred environmental activists have protested the lignite decision for a long time. But earlier this week, police began driving away a large proportion of protesters. Later, information emerged that some activists dug a tunnel under the village and are now there. The focus was on the village in 2022 when the government decided to sacrifice it for continued coal energy. The decision came despite a pledge to phase out coal by 2030. But the government – a coalition that includes the Greens – cited the energy crisis caused by Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. The Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has also participated in the demonstration. – Lignite is the worst possible fossil energy you can use, says Mikael Höök, lecturer at Uppsala University.
