The police appreciate, according to SVT News Stockholm, that 3,000 to 4,000 people may have been present. In the demonstration application previously submitted to the police, the organizers estimated that around 1,000 people would come.
At the end of June, a burning of the Koran was carried out outside Stockholm’s mosque, which is located not far from Sunday’s demonstration. The action has created major reactions in the outside world, where the Swedish government has been criticized by, among other things, several Muslim countries.
Several people brought Korans to the demonstration.
