The police are on the scene in Uppsala after a shooting on Midsummer Eve.
A boy was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.
– There are already certain indications that the boy has ended up in the firing line without being a target, says police commander Per Bjurström to TV4 Nyheterna.
At 5:42 p.m., police were called to the Gottsunda area in Uppsala after receiving several calls about a shooting on Midsummer Eve. The police have determined that some kind of firearm was fired in the area.
A boy was found at the scene with gunshot wounds. He had to be taken to hospital with unclear injuries, the police say.
Witness: 20-30 shots were fired
The case is being handled as attempted murder and at 8 p.m. the police were still on the scene to investigate the incident.
– Several shots were fired. Someone has the idea that it is about 20-30 shots, says police commander Per Bjurström.
No one has been arrested for the crime and the police have used both a police helicopter and search dogs in the investigation.
In connection with the shooting, a bus was also hit. It is still unclear if people were on the bus when the shooting occurred.
– The bus has been impounded for a technical examination, says Per Bjurström.
Indications that the boy was not a target
It is unclear whether the boy was targeted or not.
– There are indications already now that the boy has ended up in the firing line without being a target, says Per Bjurström.
RLC officer Mats Länn tells TV4 Nyheterna that the incident is very serious.
– It just underlines how seriously we take it. That in the middle of the day you don’t take into account either others, the public or anything else, but shoot automatic fire on Midsummer’s Eve in the center of Uppsala, he says.
