The police confirmed a major operation in the central part of the city, near a center for documentation on the history of Nazism and the Israeli Consulate General, and urge people to “avoid the area on a large scale” the police write on the platform X.
Perpetrator hit
“Police forces fired shots at a suspect and the person was hit,” the police write. It is unclear why the police opened fire on the person.
No one has yet been arrested and it is still unknown if there are more perpetrators.
Increased police presence
A police helicopter and the rescue service are also participating in the operation. The police state that they are greatly increasing the police presence in the city because of the incident.
A resident told SZ of hearing gunshots and police sirens and being shouted “Run! Drive!”. In a video of the resident that the newspaper has seen, several shots are heard.
