Tens of thousands of people are fleeing attacks by Israeli forces in the central part of the Gaza Strip. Most of the refugees have already fled their homes in the northern part of Gaza once.
On Thursday, Israel also bombed the city of Khan Younis in the southern part of Gaza.
According to UNRWA, the UN aid agency for the Palestinians, there are approximately 150,000 civilians in Gaza who have nowhere to go. Among them are small children, mothers carrying babies, the disabled and the elderly, UNRWA says in a British newspaper of The Guardian by.
WHO: Immediate need for food needs
On Wednesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) appealed to the international community to take immediate action in order to deal with the acute food shortage better than at present.
The WHO states in its statement that in order to secure the organization’s operations and staff, the whole of Gaza needs more food immediately.
According to UNRWA, about 40 percent of the population of Gaza is on the verge of starvation. The organization distributes food in southern Gaza, but even there there are four times more people in need than UNRWA is able to help.
The terrorist organization Hamas continues its resistance. 169 Israeli soldiers have been killed in the attack. Israel says it will continue its attack on Gaza until Hamas is defeated.
More than 21,300 people have died in the Gaza Strip since Israel launched military strikes in the area following Hamas’ surprise attack in October, according to the health ministry in Gaza, controlled by the extremist group Hamas.
A representative of the Ministry of Health said on Thursday that more than 200 people have died in Israel’s heavy bombardment within 24 hours.
