Two priests have been arrested, state police spokesman Funmilayo Odunlami said, stressing that there was no evidence that parishioners had been “abused and / or forced” to stay in the church.
The otherwise relatively peaceful Ondo received dark attention in early June when men armed with firearms and explosives attacked a Catholic church in the state. At least 40 people, several of them children, are reported killed in that attack. No group has so far claimed to be behind that act.
