A ground fire has broken out near the Gröndal interchange on Essingeleden in Stockholm.

– There is heavy smoke development, and there is a fire in the area. We are trying to call in the fire, says Tommy Wållberg at the rescue center in the middle of TV4 Nyheterna.

The rescue service: “Eight units on site”

According to the emergency services, smoke is moving in over the E4, but at the moment there is no risk of the road being closed. The police are assisting the emergency services and estimate that the fire area is approximately one hectare.

– The wind is in our favor. Then we have a natural boundary line with the E4, which is good so we don’t think the fire will spread that way, says Wållberg and at the same time says that the extinguishing work will last for a longer time.

The alarm came in to the emergency services at 11.45. According to the emergency services, the fire poses no risk to residents in the immediate area.

– But if the fire smoke spreads, windows, doors and ventilation must be closed, says Roger Sverndal.
