A large forest fire is currently raging outside Ljusdal along the railway.
Large resources are working to get the fire under control.
– We have an extensive spread, says rescue leader Hans Nornholm.
The first alarms came on Wednesday evening about several fires along the Northern main line. They have now joined together and formed a larger forest fire.
– The ground is terribly dry. We didn’t have a chance to catch up initially, says Hans Nornholm.
As of Thursday morning, the fire was not under control. The rescue service has nine stations on site and is assisted by four helicopters in the extinguishing work.
– It is an extensive fire on a fairly large geographical area. It burns along about 1.5 kilometers of the track and then we see a real spread into the forest, says Hans Nornholm.
The firefighters are working
Train traffic has been stopped along the Northern main line as a result of the fire. The stations Ånge, Ljusdal, Järvsö, Vallsta, Arbrå, Bollnäs, Kilafors, Holmsveden, Lingbo, Ockelbo and Gävle C may be affected, according to the Swedish Transport Administration.
