An industrial building in Norrköping has caught fire.
Inside the building there are, among other things, gas cylinders.
– It is difficult for us to put out the fire and there will be total damage to the building, says Peder Helmer, officer on duty at the rescue service.
It was around 03:00 last night that the emergency services were called to the industrial area.
– It is an extensive large fire in a warehouse that is approximately 100 by 100 metres, says Peder Helmer.
The emergency services state that the premises, where several companies are housed, are on fire and that the roof has collapsed. In addition, there are various fire and explosive goods in the construction.
– For one thing, there are gas bottles that can explode. There is a section with an enormous amount of car tires and rims that also contribute to fire promotion, which means that the intensity of the fire increases, says Helmer.
Some risk of spread
There is a certain risk of spreading to adjacent buildings, but the emergency services assess that the situation is under control.
– We are currently trying to save two undamaged parts of the building.
The extinguishing work is expected to continue into Thursday morning. There is currently no danger to the public.
