On one of the hottest days of the year, a major fire has broken out in West Berlin.
The fire arose in connection with explosions at an ammunition warehouse in the Grunewald forest. Controlled explosions of, among other things, old ammunition are done there, but something has obviously gone wrong.
Thomas Kirstein of the German capital’s fire department is urging everyone to stay away from the area, as explosives continue to blow and the fire spreads.
– The situation is dangerous, says Kirstein to the media.
A heat wave prevails in the area, with up to 38 degrees on Thursday.
