Around 12 o’clock on Saturday, several hundred people gathered at Linnéparken in Växjö and then marched together through the city. “There is a lack of money – we can’t afford it”, was the main message in the demonstration organized by the association Växjö forum.
– Building in Räppe is absolutely insane and we can’t afford this billion-dollar construction. It is possible to expand the central hospital, says Ing-Britt Boston, one of the participants.
Decision after the summer
The planning work for a new emergency hospital in Räppe is progressing, but it is still possible to stop the construction plans without the region becoming liable for damages.
A definitive decision is expected to be made after the summer.
– It is starting to tighten and it is important that we gather our strength now, says Marcus Turesson, initiator and former tax director in Växjö.
According to a post from Region Kronoberg’s chairman Mikael Johansson on the moderates’ website the region’s capital has increased steadily.
