Lane closure as new Costco entrance created

One lane of Wayne Gretzky Parkway will be closed to traffic starting Thursday for at least five days as part of the expansion of the Lynden Park Mall and preparation for the new Costco warehouse to be built on the site.

A new entrance is being created near the Highway 403 ramp, closest to the side of the mall property where the new business will go. It’s part of a plan to support the projected increase in traffic to the mall.

For five days, the one-lane closure will be from the highway interchange to the main mall entrance at the intersection of Edmondson Street and Wayne Gretzky Parkway.

The lane closure is expected to be removed during evenings and weekends when the construction work is not taking place.

The city is strongly encouraging motorists to reduce travel through that area, especially during peak travel hours, in order to minimize delays and congestion.

Pedestrian access at the main mall entrance will be maintained, along with access for emergency services,

While this portion of work is short, the city has warned citizens there will be intermittent lane closures during the project, which is expected to be done by the end of October.
