Lambton Archives Creating Heritage Hunters Video Series

Lambton County Archives is Seeking People who Want to Find Out More About Their Family Histories, and be featured in an online video series.

Applications Are Open Until March 28 for Heritage Hunters, Said Archivist and Supervistor Nicole Aszalos.

The Initiative invites people interested in acovering information about their ancestors to step in the front of the camra with aszalos as they go through through the process of genealogical investigation, Aszalos Said.

Hopes are not only to create an entertain series, capturing moments of discovery as they are happening, but also demystify the research process, and educate about the country archives and the importance of local history, she Said.

“Really connecting the past with the present.”

County Marketing Officials Will Produce the Episodes, She Said, With Recording Expect Between May and July, after participants are selected and notified.

Episodes are expected to be available starting in december at lambtonmuseums.ca, she said, noting plans are to release one each week.

How Many Get Made Depends On the Number of Applicants, She Said.

“It is Our First Time Doing this, Which is really exciting,” She Said.

Not Knowning where the investigations May lead is also part of the fun, she Said.

“It’s Largely Depend on the Applicants Themselves and the Types of Stories that we uncover,” Aszalos Said.

“We might end at a cemetery one day going and trying to find the headstone of maybe somebody’s great-grandfather. We Might Find Letters or Really Unique Items, Maybe Even a Diary in the Vault. ”

The Initiative Builds Off An Ancient Roadshow-Style Show and Tell Series Last Year that invited people to Bring Treasured Photos, Recipes, Diaries, Clothes and Other Items to County Officials and Share Their Stories

Videos of Those events are featured online.
