LADY GAGA. Thanks to the series “Wednesday”, on Netflix, then to a Tiktok trend, Lady Gaga’s song, “Bloody Mary”, released in 2011, explodes again.

And the magic of Netflix worked again. After Metallica or Kate Bush, it’s up to Lady Gaga to ride the cardboard wave of a series released on the streaming platform. Since its release, Wednesdaythe new heroine from The Addams Family of 1991, goes on to record, with 343.230 million hours of viewing in less than a week. And when the social network Tiktok seizes the phenomenon with brown braids, it is Lady Gaga that the success splashes.

However, in the Netflix series, Wednesday, played by Jenna Ortega, dances to a completely different sound: the title Goo Goo Muck, from The Cramps, released in 1981. On Tiktok, hundreds of thousands of young people take up the choreography of Wednesday (visible below). With the soundtrack, the song Bloody Mary by Lady Gaga. In a few days, the trend has become global: the hashtag #Wednesdaydance now has more than 427 million views on the platform. And the song bloody mary to become, at the time of writing, the most searched title on the music recognition software Shazam, as announced by the latter on Twitter.

But why such a craze around this dance? This success is explained, of course, by the popularity of the series Wednesday (Where wednesday in VO) on the Netflix platform. But also by the scene itself, emblematic of the series orchestrated by Tim Burton : the heroine, Wednesday Addams, performs improbable dance steps on the floor of a prom, dressed in black among students dressed in white. All on the heady hit of The Cramps. Or that of Lady Gaga on the Tiktok side.
