Ladj Ly is known for his film school, Kourtrajmé, which he created in his town of Montfermeil, and in Dakar. He also caused a sensation four years ago with Les Misérables. His new film, Bâtiment 5, takes place in a town not far from Paris. Building 5 is where Haby lives, a young town hall employee, very involved in the life of her town. When she discovers that the building has been declared unsanitary and will be destroyed, she gets into a standoff with the mayor.
