In Järva, they have succeeded in reducing the number of fatal shootings through closer cooperation between the school, social services and the police, which has made it possible to catch young people at risk earlier, according to area police Stefan Larsson.
– We have been involved in incident management for perhaps 20 years, and that is a contributing reason why I started working in crime prevention, that no more small children should be shot, says Stefan Larsson and adds:
– In all these years, I have never seen so many young people involved in this gun violence that is now going on in Sweden.
“Unable to complete the task”
Many young people who are taken into care by the police and who are to be placed in Sis or HVB homes are not given a place or run away from there. Solna municipality, to which Järva belongs, has now lex-Sarah registered themselves after a young person was not given a place in a Sis home.
– When we can’t use those tools, we can’t fulfill our mission and then we have to lex-Sarah-notify ourselves, says Alexander Ojanne (S), social and security councillor.
– It’s a disaster, it’s a scandal. These are children who must be protected, he adds.
