There has recently been a lot reported about monkeypox and so far over 16,000 cases of the virus have been discovered in some 70 countries, where the majority of those infected have been men who have sex with men, according to the WHO.

At the national association Noah’s Ark, which since the 1980s has spread knowledge and information about HIV, conversations have increased about concerns about stigmatization and discrimination.

In the past, similar organizations in Europe have warned that authorities are repeating the same mistakes as during the AIDS crisis, where the focus on gay men led to social isolation and mental illness. Criticism has also been directed at how to inform about the disease and the risk of infection.
