Lack of care and fraud – 130 reported

According to IVO, criminals or rogue actors are trying to establish themselves in all areas that have been reviewed. And within several operations, there are already criminal actors.

Anna Karin Nyqvist is Head of Unit at IVO and says that the recalled permits in health care have increased with the review.

Examples of rogue or criminal elements are that personnel who completely lack skills care for patients or that drugs are handled incorrectly, which can be dangerous to the patient. During the review, several suspected fraud was also discovered.

According to Peder Carlsson, Head of Department at IVO, cooperation between different authorities needs to be strengthened.

“We need additional tools to better access the rogue players,” he said in a press release.

Anna Karin Nyqvist agrees and believes that these actors actively avoid supervision and are therefore difficult to reach.

We have made wishes to be able to make hidden purchases or to be able to book times, without having to call or send letters before because many rogue players then pull away, she says.

It was at the beginning of last year that IVO received two new assignments from the government, to strengthen work against criminals or rogue players in healthcare and care.

The first report shows that several permits have been revoked for, among other things, HVB homes, support housing and aesthetic activities. Over 130 players have also been reported to the police or prosecution.
