Lack of bottles threatens German beer

German breweries warn of acute shortage of bottles.

The shortage is due to higher production prices in combination with shipping problems in the form of too few trucks available.

– Last summer we will see a shortage. The situation is very strained, says the chairman of the German Brewery Association, Holger Eichele, to Bild.

The worst affected are small and medium-sized breweries, which risk an 80% increase in the bottle price, which will raise prices – if the beer can even be bought.

– Some already have a shortage, they simply have no more bottles, says Eichele.

But there is a solution. If more people deposit their bottled bottles, the shortage will be smaller, the brewery association states.
