Labomar new patent and investment of 69 million euros in

(Finance) – Labomar SpA accelerates technological innovation to give new impetus to productivity and confirms its commitment to scientific research. With an investment of 6.9 million euros the leading company in the nutraceutical sector – active internationally and specialized in the research, development and third-party production of food supplements, medical devices, foods for special medical purposes and cosmetics – aims to increase production capacity in the field of liquid solutions, achieving up to 25 million more pieces per year thanks to a new fully automated line.

Added to this is the deposit of a new patent, The 17th since the foundation of Labomar: a formulation capable of improving the stability and compliance of food supplements in liquid form containing probiotics, making them more easily accessible to the consumer.

Quality and innovation represent our strengths and constitute the cornerstones of a path of continuous improvement regarding both the product and the process, with the aim of offer customers an increasingly effective and cutting-edge service – declares the founder and CEO of Labomar Walter Bertin –. The important investment we have undertaken will, in fact, allow us to implement the production capacity of a fundamental line for our business. In this way, we will not only be able to significantly reduce delivery times, increasing competitivenessbut we will also be able to keep up with the increasingly fast pace of the market. Furthermore, with the new patent, we are able to give a further boost to the liquid solutions category by meeting the needs of our partners.”

Regarding the investment in the new machinery, the company has purchased a fully automated line equipped with cutting-edge technologies capable of speeding up and streamlining the entire production process of liquid solutions. Its installation made it necessary to adapt the production surface of the L3 factory, in Istrana (TV), with the transfer of part of the warehouse and, therefore, the recovery of a further 800 square meters to accommodate the new line. The first commercial batch was packaged in recent weeks.

Designed and built by the Italian headquarters of Romaco Group, world leader in the field of process and packaging technologies, the plant takes the name of “Romaco Liquid Filling & Packaging Line” and is capable of autonomously managing the entire production cycle of syrups in multi-dose packs. An important product category in the company’s growth strategy, which in fact accounts for over 20% of the total pieces made in 2023.

A fact, the latter, made even more significant if contextualized in the European reference market where liquid solutions are among the most popular forms and account for 15% of sales. And Labomar, thanks to the new production capacity combined with the expertise on liquids accumulated over the years, today has a portfolio of ready-to-sell products, in particular medical devices, through which it is able to quickly support companies intend to enter this business segment.

In this context, it becomes even more relevant development of new patented technology, precisely in the field of liquid solutions, started in 2022 by the team of researchers at Labomar Research. In detail, the work addresses a typical problem of suspensions: heterogeneous mixtures composed of insoluble solid particles (in this case, probiotic microorganisms) dispersed in a liquid, which by their nature are often subject to the formation of aggregates that settle at the bottom. The setup of a innovative pool of substances It allows the product to be stabilized and the sedimentation of the particles to be reduced, thus facilitating the resuspension of the probiotic microorganisms after agitation of the liquid. Furthermore, this new composition has been formulated with additives compliant with specific regulations which also make it suitable for pediatric children.

In recent months, such research activity has found fulfillment in the deposit of the “Patent for invention” application to the Italian Patent and Trademark Office. The novelty was previewed at Vitafoods Europe, the reference fair for the nutraceutical sector held in Geneva last May, arousing the interest of many visitors.
