  • L: Make travel against the advice of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a criminal offence

Parents who travel with their children to countries that the Foreign Ministry advises against, such as Lebanon, should be able to be punished.

That is what the Liberals propose.

Criminalization is a very pressing issue, according to Joar Forsell.

    – We know today that there are Swedes who take their children to places where there is a travel advisory and then you risk the lives of these children and we must actually be able to ban that, says Joar Forsell, the Liberals’ foreign policy spokesperson, to Echo.

Forsell opens the door to prison or a fine.

    – If you have responsibility for a child, it is not reasonable to put your child in danger by taking him to a country where it is not recommended, says Joar Forsell.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against travel if the security situation in a country is deemed to be very dangerous or unpredictable. It is a recommendation and not a prohibition.
