School staff should be given the right to search students’ school bags, the Liberals believe, who want to see an amendment to the school law.
– Principals simply need more tools to be able to make the school a zone free from crime and to be able to stop new recruitments to the gangs, says Minister of Education Johan Pehrson (L) at a press conference in Malmö.
Today, school staff lack the legal right to search carry-on bags, even if there are suspicions that students are carrying, for example, weapons or drugs.
– A change is needed so that principals are given the opportunity to be able to, not always do, but be able to go through bags and lockers to maintain order and safety in the school.
The Liberals also want to open up the use of metal detectors in entry controls at schools in certain situations.
