Kylian Mbappé is Real Madrid’s big summer signing. But the French striker isn’t just good with the ball.
France star striker Kylian Mbappé joined Real Madrid this summer, leaving Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer and ending a saga that has been going on since last summer. After seven seasons at the capital club and scoring 256 goals in 308 games, the 25-year-old will be discovering a new league for the first time after training at Monaco before joining PSG.
World champion in 2018 with the Blues, Kylian Mbappé became the captain of the French team after the 2022 World Cup and the retirement of Hugo Lloris. Although he won the French championship six times with PSG, and once with AS Monaco, Kylian Mbappé only reached the Champions League final once with the Parisian club and never won the competition. He arrives at Real with the ambition of finally winning the most prestigious European competition.
But if Kylian Mbappé is a prolific striker, he is not only exceptionally gifted in front of goal. Indeed, the native of Bondy was a student at the music conservatory of his city for six years. He thus practiced the transverse flute. If his talent was precocious in football, this was not necessarily the case in music, but his teachers remember a “willing and endearing” student.
His teacher at the Bondy Conservatory, Françoise Ducos, explains that young Kylian was a “normal” student, neither hyper-gifted nor bad. But he enjoyed learning and always wanted to be the first to play.”
Kylian Mbappé has remained very attached to his childhood town and regularly takes part in operations and events in Bondy, in the Paris region. In 2018, he notably visited the students of the conservatory where he learned the flute. He then received the instrument of his childhood from the hands of the mayor of the town Sylvine Thomassin.
Although he remains involved in various artistic projects through his foundations, Kylian Mbappé admitted that he has not had time to play the transverse flute for a long time, and that he has lost some of the fundamentals.
