Ukraine on Wednesday accused Russia of launching a cruise missile and 89 Iranian-designed attack drones overnight, saying the attack was the largest in months.
“Today, Ukrainian air defenses resisted and repelled a massive attack by enemy drones,” the air force said in a statement, saying all targets had been shot down.
A rain of drones
More than 40 drones have been neutralized over the capital kyiv and its suburbs, without causing any casualties, according to the municipal military administration. In the Kiev region, “13 individual houses […] were damaged. Debris damaged facades, roofs and windows. Rescuers put out a fire in one of them,” said the head of the regional military administration, Ruslan Kravchenko.
Russia launches drones and missiles into Ukraine almost every night, claiming to target military and energy targets, although Russian strikes frequently hit residential areas, killing and injuring civilians.
